Poetic works. With notes by M. Poujoulat. Tours, Alfred Mame et fils, 1870. In-4, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, in the center of the boards a large cartouche drawn by interlacing surrounding an oval medallion in reserve, the whole decorated with small irons and foliage, gilt spine, gilt inner lace, gilt edges, case (Cuzin - Marius Michel doreur). Beautiful edition, decorated with a portrait and 20 etched headers by Foulquier. Edition at 301 copies, this one on large laid paper. Unique copy, enriched with 26 original washings and several etching suites: - 18 portraits in wash, finely executed and signed by Choquet, representing characters to whom Boileau dedicated a satire and placed in the frontispiece of each of them: Molière, Scudéry, Guilleragues, Colbert, Lamoignon, Racine, etc., and a plate of four small anonymous portraits. - 5 wash drawings for the Lutrin, signed Roger - 2 wash drawings for the Satire contre les femmes, unsigned - several suites of engravings, a total of 50 proofs including portraits of Boileau, Racine and Louis XIV, 9 engravings by Fortin, 8 engravings for the Blaise edition, 7 unsigned engravings and 16 engravings by Devéria, Moreau and Desenne, 3 of which in double and triple state. Remarkable binding by Cuzin, gilt by Marius Michel, decorated on the boards with a large Renaissance cartouche. From the Léon Rattier library (bookplate). Small wetness at the top of some leaves.
