[PRINCE IMPERIAL] BIZOT Adrien (1848-1929). Ami intime du Prince Impérial, futur général.

L.A.S. to the Prince Imperial. Melun, April 17, 1878. 3 pp. bifeuillet in-8. Beautiful letter of the young officer giving news, and hoping to be able to join soon the prince in Arenenberg "[...] Today all is against me and at the very moment when I am more or less informed, I remain alone at the Division. The squadron leader who was with me has just become a lieutenant-colonel and receives today his letter of service for Lyon. The captain of hussars who is our deputy is leaving for a month, a family matter. The second staff captain, appointed yesterday, is getting married in May and has a leave of absence of two months; finally, the general's orderly, is called to Paris near the marshal for the duration of the exhibition. It is really to play of misfortune [...] I do not doubt that I will be taken into account later on of this additional work [...]". General d'Espeuilles, who was to make a general inspection in Algeria, offered him to be his aide-de-camp: "That does not mean, my lord, that I am postponing for a long time the happiness of going to see you: but it is necessary to wait for at least two months, and God knows where your Imperial Highness will be at that time! You will pity me, without accusing me, and you will kindly keep me informed of the trips you plan so that I can join you either in England or in Switzerland, as soon as I can save myself [...]". He continues "Nothing new here; I often see young Mazimbert who has been quite ill and with whom we talk about Your Highness [...]". He takes advantage of the occasion to address his respectful homage to the Empress his mother
