Description

OFFICER'S SABER OF LIGHT CAVALRY. Gilded brass mount called "à la chasseur", with long skirted cap. Guard with three branches and two auricles in shuttle engraved with flowers, foliage, scrolls and rhombuses. Curved quillon downwards, in drop. Curved blade with flat back, counter edge and hollow sides. The barrel is made of patinated iron with gilded brass fittings, with two large bracelets decorated with lion's heads in the half round and a long bolt nicely chiseled with foliage bouquets. B.E. First Empire/Restoration period
