FRENCH SCHOOL OF THE XIXTH CENTURY "Emilie de Beauharnais, Countess of Lavalette" represented from the front after the portrait kept in the Château de la Malmaison. Oil on oval panel H. 29 - L. 19 cm Madame de Lavalette, born Emilie de Beauharnais, was taken in at an early age by her aunt, the future Empress Josephine. In 1798, Napoleon Bonaparte organized her marriage to one of his aides-de-camp, Antoine-Marie Chamans, the future Count of Lavalette.
