* PAIR OF GLOVES OF CEREMONY INTENDED FOR THE EMPEROR NAPOLEON I Attributed to Gervais Chardin supplier of the Emperor. In fine white deerskin or goatskin, in one piece. Embroidered on the top of each glove of an imperial eagle on a spindle, in a crown of leaves and laurel fruits, the whole surmounted by a crown in golden silver thread, orange and black silk threads, sequin, Inner lining of protection of the embroidery in flower of skin on the one. Length: 23.5 cm. Width at the base : 10 cm. B.E. First Empire period. Note: These gloves have been embroidered, the whole of the places stitched for the preparation of the fine seam, which has not been realized. One of the thumbs is detached. Related work: -A glove of this model in private collection. Bibliography: The suppliers of Napoleon I Alph. Maze-Sencier. Paris, 1893.
