LA HARPE (Jean-François de). Literary correspondence, addressed to H. A. I. Mgr the Grand Duke, today emperor of Russia, and to M. the count André Schowalow, since 1774 until 1789. In Paris, at Migneret, An IX (1801) 1807. Six volumes in 5 vol. in-8, contemporary basane racinée, spine smooth and ornate, title and greement in red basane, yellow edges (3 corners rubbed, one head and one spine cracked, negligible scuffing, very light sporadic wetness in vol.1). First edition of this collection, the end of which was published posthumously. This correspondence is a pleasant testimony of the literary tastes and fortunes of the very end of the 18th century, and is distinguished in particular by numerous anecdotes relating to the theatrical world of the time.
