(title), 56 f., contemporary speckled tan calf, smooth spine decorated, brown morocco title-piece, triple gilt fillet bordering the boards, gilt fillet at the edges, gilt edges (one corner dulled, small snag at one cut, light wetness on qq. ff.). First work by Jean Duvergier de Hauranne, abbot of Saint-Cyran. Reproduction made in the 18th century of the extremely rare original edition; only the title vignette differs. Provenance: Count L.-H.-A. Loménie de Brienne, military, 1730-1793 (engraved armorial bookplate), uncommon provenance, the incumbent was executed in 1793 and his library looted in 1814. A bibliographical note on the flyleaf would be in the hand of Cardinal de Loménie de Brienne (1727-1794). Then, de Bourmont, 19th c., Calvados (etiq. ex-libris).
