Three parts in 1 vol. in-8, XLV-1-86-294 p., [1] f., 72 p., contemporary marbled tan basane, spine with 5 nerves, garnet-toned basane title-piece, ornamented caissons, red edges (flaws including torn tail-cap, cracks at the foot of the spines, one corner worn, wetness at the corners of the title and then scarce in st. margins). Important collection containing a collective defense of the abbé de Prades, author of a thesis condemned by the Sorbonne and the archbishop of Paris, and which was one of the pretexts to condemn in its turn the Encyclopédie of Diderot and d'Alembert. Second edition of this work of which the 3rd part was written by Diderot. In addition, there is, bound afterwards : Pièces nouvelles et curieuses sur l'affaire de l'abbé de Prades. S.l., s.n., 1754. 32 p. Old handwritten mention on the title: "one can be oneself like a wall of bronze when one has nothing to reproach oneself for, and that one does nothing of which one is obliged to be ashamed".
