MANUSCRIT. [Trip to Egypt and the Middle East]. Anonymous manuscript of 94 pages and 34 pages in detached sheets, from January 22, 1929 to April 13, 1929. Small in-8 (20,5x16 cm), half vellum and string binding. Travel diary (kept almost every day) made in the company of the painter Simon Bussy (1870-1954), his wife Dorothy (friend and translator of André Gide's Works in English), and his daughter Janie. The author was invited by Bussy to accompany him on a part of his trip to Egypt, commissioned by Gabriel Hanotaux, to illustrate his book "History of the Egyptian Nation" published in 1932. Leaving Marseille on board the liner Le Champollion, to Alexandria, then Cairo, Aswan, the Nile by felucca to Alfa, then back to Aswan, visit of monuments and temples, return to Cairo for Palestine, Jerusalem, Mount of Olives, Omar's mosque, Jericho, Bethlehem, Nablus, Beirut, etc.
