Chair in molded beech wood and repainted in green, the straight back and the legs slightly arched. Louis XV period, stamped M.CRESSON, marked in stencil DUC DE PVE PARIS. Michel Cresson, received master in 1740. crimson embossed velvet upholstery H. : 95 cm Provenance :Duke of Penthièvre, Hôtel de Penthièvre, Paris, circa 1750.sale in Versailles, Palais des Congrès, October 30, 1983, lot 217.Christies sale, Paris, June 24, 2003, lot 464. A bed à la polonaise attributed to Michel Cresson, bearing an identical mark, adorned a room in the Château d'Omonville in Normandy (Sotheby's Monaco sale, December 11, 1999, lot 67). This bed had the particularity of having sliding backs and legs, which could indicate a travel or country bed.
