After François CHIFFLART (1825 - 1901) Faust at the Sabbath Rare lithograph of Louis Alfred BAHUET (1862 - 1910) after a lost drawing of Chifflart. Proof on chine applied on vellum, signed in pencil by Alfred Bahuet. 28,5 x 78 cm (with margins : 68,5 x 98 cm) Conservation: abundant spotting and foxing. Very important gap and tear in the right margin; spidering in the subject and in the lower margin. According to Valérie Sueur, curator of the Chifflart exhibition at the Musée d'Orsay, the only existing visual of the large charcoal painting exhibited at the 1859 Salon, which had aroused Baudelaire's admiration, would be the lithograph presented here.
