First edition of this travelogue on the banks of the Amazon. Emile Carrey (1820-1880) was sent as a diplomat to South America in 1852. He describes here a part of his long journey by dugout, from Bélem in Brazil to Guyana, and facing the giant wave, the "prororoca".
