VICTOR (Paul-Émile).

VICTOR (Paul-Émile). East Coast of Greenland. Kangerdlugssuak, 1936. Pastel and pencil on paper. Signed and dated 6/11/36 lower right. 19 x 32,5 cm, in a gilded frame (32 x 45,5 cm). On a blue sea, two icebergs are floating, in front of ice mountains. The polar explorer Paul-Émil Victor (1907-1995) made this stylized drawing during his second stay in Greenland, in 1936. For almost a year, he lived in the Inuit community of Kangerdlugssuak and shared his life with Doumidia.
