ORLÉANS (Bishop the Duke of). A cruise in Spitzbergen. On the yacht "Maroussia", 1904. In-8, blue chagrin, double gilt fillet, fleur-de-lis at the corners, arms of France in the center of the boards, spine decorated with nerves, gilt head, gilt inner frame, cons. cover without the spine (Rel. of the period). 1 color frontispiece, 55 black out-of-text photo reproductions, 2 folding maps. The Duke of Orleans, pretender to the throne, was also a great hunter and explorer; he left on board his yacht to explore Norway and Spitzberg in 1904, then led 3 other polar campaigns between 1905 and 1909 on board the "Belgica". Very nice copy with the French coat of arms.
