Conducted between 1911 and 1914 by Australian scientist Douglas Mawson, the famous Australian expedition explored and mapped an almost unexplored part of the Antarctic coast located in the south of Australia, between Cape Adare and Mount Gauss. This expedition is famous for the heroic survival and sacrifices made by the members of the three bases, including Mawson himself. The scientific reports, whose publication was complicated to set up, gather an exceptional and vast set of data; they relate to oceanography, cartography, geology, zoology, botany, meteorology, geomagnetism.
