Georges Ebers was one of the first German Egyptologists and gathered around him a real Egyptological school. From his frequent travels, he also wrote historical novels illustrating scenes of Egyptian life. A very beautiful publication with a preface by Ebers in the first volume and by Maspero in the second.
Beautiful publisher's bindings decorated by A. Souze.
A fine copy, despite some minor rubbing to the hinges, jaws cracked.
