Our painting, which was attributed to Puget around 1978, belongs to a group of four works, identified a few years ago as being by Giovanni - Battista Pace.
The flight into Egypt was a theme particularly appreciated by the entourage of Pier - Francesco Mola, of whom Pace was one of the most faithful pupils. However, he frees himself from the influence of his master, breathing a dynamism of his own into his composition.
