Joseph Ferdinand LANCRENON (Lods 1794-1874) Dance of the nymphs with the god Pan Paper mounted on canvas. 23,2 x 38 cm Wooden frame and gilded stucco of the Empire period. Provenance: Anne-Louis Girodet (1767-1824); his sale, Catalogue des tableaux, esquisses, dessins et croquis, de M. Girodet-Trioson, written by Pérignon, Paris (55, rue Neuve-Saint-Augustin), Me Bonnefons-Lavialle, part of lot 351 ("Ten sketches on varnished paper, made under the eyes and according to the drawings of M. Girodet; some of them retouched by him (...) Apollo doing in the Graces, and Pan making two nymphs and a young shepherd dance. This article will be divided"), sold 210, 140 and 295 frs. Sketch of one of the two tympanums of the ballroom of the château de Compiègne realized by Girodet in 1814-1817. Bibliography: V. Bajou, S.
