An Afghan Jezail flintlock Rifle, ca. 1850
Teak full stock with the typical curved grip, inlaid with fine copper decorations of leaves and birds. The octagonal shaped iron barrel with wide muzzle and mounted with seven copper bands on the wooden full stock. Brass trigger guard, curved iron lockplate, cock and ramrod. The lockplate made from recycled British army gun parts and stamped with the ‘Ascending lion with crown’ of the British East India Company and dated ‘1810’.
