French Cavalry Flintlock Pistol for Officers, M1777 by ‘St Etienne’ Ca. 1784 - 1792. Single shot flintlock pistol with smooth walnut half stock and round barrel in Cal. 18mm. Brass lockbox signed ‘St. Etienne’, brass trigger guard and butt-cap. Iron cock and iron ramrod. Length: 34 cm. [II-] NOTE This second type of Model 1777 was modified in 1784 and manufactured ‘WITHOUT’ belt hooks. During it’s period of manufacture the pistol underwent a few minor changes and was manufactured until 1792. An estimated 145,000 pistols were manufactured between 1788 and 1792.
