[Travel - Navy]. MICHELOT (Henri) & BRÉMOND (Laurent). Collection of marine maps. (Marseille, L. Brémond, 1715-1726). Large in folio (510 x 380 mm), fawn morocco, gilt inscription on the first cover "Menus Plaisirs du Roy", gilt fleur-de-lis on the corners, green cords (contemporary binding). FIRST EDITION OF THIS VERY BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION OF 16 LARGE SEA MAPS (one of them folding) and 3 BOAT MAPS, all mounted on tabs. The maps printed on heavy paper are dated between 1715 and 1726 and engraved very skillfully and accurately by P. Starkmann, one of the most sought-after map engravers of the time, who signed some of the maps. Maps: 1 - New map of the Ocean Coasts containing the Coasts of Portugal and Barbary .... And the Canary Islands. 1720 2 - New General Map of the Mediterranean Sea, with the names of the islands and some ports. 1726 (1/3) 3 - Continuation (2/3) 4 - Continuation (3/3) 5 - New map of the Bay of Cadis, and the Strait of Gibraltar.... With remarks on the Bay of Cadis. 1718. 6 - Particular map of the coasts of Spain and Barbary from Gibraltar to Cape Palle and from Ceuta to Cape Ferat. 1723. 7 - Continuation of the coasts of Spain and Barbary from Cartagena to Denia and from Cape Falcon to Cape Carbon. 1723. 8 - Continuation of the coasts of Spain from Cape St. Martin to Cape St. Sebastian, with the islands of Mayorque, Minorca and Yvice.
