Atlas of France divided into its 40 general and military governments, in as many particular maps with the main roads that cross the provinces of the kingdom. Paris, Chez Desnos libraire et ingénieur géographe de Sa Majesté Danoise, 1775. In-16, old red morocco, triple gilt fillet on the covers, smooth spine decorated, gilt edges (period binding). Work of the geographer Louis Brion de La Tour (1743-1803), known for his important work of cartography realized in collaboration with Louis Charles Desnos. "This atlas which by the sharpness of the engraving and the cleanliness of the wash is a real jewel" (Journal des Sçavans, volume 81) is illustrated with 48 DOUBLE PAGE MAPS FINALLY AQUARELLED, including 1 general map of France by the author and engraved by André Gaspard and an engraved alphabetical table. One corner dulled, missing the dedication leaf and the frontispiece, otherwise a good copy entirely mounted on contemporary morocco mounts.
