Jean de Hierusalem containing their admirable institution & police, the follow-up of the wars of the Holy Land, where they were found, & their continuous travels, undertakings, battles, assaults & meetings. Cy-devant escrite par le feu S.D.B.S.D.L. Paris, chez Jacques D'Allin, 1658-59. In folio of [18 (of 20)]-510-[24] and 249 pages (mis-coded 248) and [24]-54 pages (mis-coded 141 to 196) and 28 pages, tan calf, gilt arms in the center, spine decorated with small gilt lions, red edges (period binding). Bound with : The statutes of the Order of Saint John of Hierusalem. 1658 - Malthe suppliante au pied du Roy. Old restorations well executed, Provenance : Copy with the arms of the knight and count of Plélo with the motto of the family of Bréhan : " Fides Brientensium " of knightly origin and one of the most ancient and best allied of the province of Brittany.
