VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Important PENDANT and its CHAIN "Lion of Persepolis" in yellow gold (750‰) openwork, amati, hammered, the eye of the lion set with a cabochon chrysoprase. Detachable pendant. French work, 1971. Chain signed VCA and pendant signed VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, numbered. In its commemorative case. Pendant engraved on the back " Ball of the fiftieth anniversary of the small white lilies, Iran 28 October 1971 ". Hallmark of the jeweler Georges LENFANT. Length of the motif : 9,5 cm. Length of chain: 67 cm. Gross weight: 118.9 g. In 1971, the Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, commemorated 2500 years of the Persian Empire. The celebration, held in Persepolis, was attended by countless prestigious guests. A few weeks later, another memorable celebration was held in Iran for the benefit of children with tuberculosis: the "Little White Beds 50th Anniversary Ball". This pendant was given to some of the prestigious guests of this charity ball.
