Le Poittevin / 1856". Monogrammed on the right side of the canoe : " ELP ". Titled on the reverse on the upper bar of the frame: "The hauling of a canoe, memory of the beach of Etretat - Coast of the English Channel An old label in the upper left corner with the Salon catalog number "1725 70.1 x 116.4 cm Provenance: Alexis Azevedo (1813-1875), music critic, flutist and friend of the artist. Exhibition: Paris, Salon of 1857, no. 1725 ("Le Halage d'un canot, souvenir de la plage d'Étretat - Côte de la Manche," corresponding entry number 5397 inscribed in black chalk on the reverse of the original frame).
