1974 CITROEN MEHARI

Chassis No. 04CA6308 Engine No. AK20503074712 - Fully restored specimen in 2020 - Eye-catching light blue livery with 'Tiffany' type interior - Orange Siena license plate - One of 1098 produced for the Italian market in 1974 - A true 'Fun Car' for everyone There was a time when cars managed to be fun and become undisputed style icons in no time. The Méhari was one of those cars that only a company like Citroen could produce: based on the chassis of the commercial version of the 2 CV it was extremely light thanks to its plastic bodywork and served not only as a pure fun car, but served armies, rescue units and as a work vehicle. The bodywork allowed a variety of combinations and was totally modular. Such was its effectiveness that Citroen also produced it as a 4x4: prized by Theirry Sabine, the Méhari also served as a reconnaissance car and as a medical car at the first Paris Dakar in 1979. The Méhari offered here was purchased by the current owner in November 2019 and underwent a full restoration in spring 2020, being completed in the summer of that year. The restoration involved all of the mechanical and body parts that had been repainted over time in a color that did not conform to the original color, which was Orange Kirghiz. From the documentation in our possession, the car seems to have been delivered from new in the Republic of San Marino and then to have been registered in Italy later: the currently present Siena plate was applied to the car in 1982. This nice Méhari has traveled only 300 km since restoration and is in perfect condition, ready for the warm weather.
