Description

Bell-shaped krater with red figures decorated on one side with a scene representing a young woman holding a tympanon facing a naked satyr holding a thyrse and a situla. The face B represents two ephebes in conversation on either side of a stele. A frieze of olive leaves decorates the reverse of the mouthpiece. The handles are decorated with palmettes and volutes. Black glazed beige clay. Breakage and old restoration visible, otherwise very good conservation. Collector's patina from the 19th century. Greek art, Apulia, 4th century B.C. H. 34.5 cm.
