DUKE OF PUYLAURENS. 1634. "LETTER FROM THE KING (LOUIS XIII), written to the Governors of the provinces, on the detention of the Duke of PUYLAURENT: and what happened there." - Royal Vignette - Impr. in PARIS, at A. Estienne, P. Mettayer C. Prevost, ordinary printers of the King. 1634, with privilege of His Majesty; 13pp in-8° - (Antoine de L'AGE, Duke of PUYLAURENS, attached himself to Gaston d'ORLÉANS of whom he became the favorite and whom he directed in his intrigues. He pushed Gaston to be reconciled with King LOUIS XIII and to break the marriage he had contracted with the sister of the Duke of Lorraine. He was rewarded with the gift of the Seigniory of AIGUILLON, which became a Duchy-Payroll under the name of PUYLAURENS (1634). But his favor did not last long. He was arrested and died in prison in the castle of Vincennes on July 1, 1635.)
