Appeared in Verve (Vol. IX, No. 35-36), July 1958, Paris, under the title Dernières Oeuvres de Matisse 1950-1954 These works were made by the artist with gouache-colored papers, cut with scissors, and glued. They are presented here with drawings executed at the same time or during the previous period. Matisse composed the cover especially for this volume. These lithographic plates were printed during 1954 under his direction. The printing of the lithographs in colors by Mourlot Frères and the printing of the heliogravure reproductions and the typography by the master printers Draeger Frères, was completed in Paris on July 28, 1958.
