H. from 20,5 cm to 31 cm ; L. from 22 cm to 24 cm (at sight) Provenance: Private collection, Switzerland Several years after participating in the scientific mission to the Austral Lands (1800-1803) led by Commander Nicolas Thomas Baudin, Louis Claude de Saulces de Freycinet was entrusted with an expedition to the Pacific (1817-1820) during which he was charged with determining the figure of the globe, studying terrestrial magnetism and collecting all the objects of natural history that could contribute to the advancement of science. Lot in temporary importation and subject to a 5,5 % fee to be paid by the buyer in addition to the selling expenses and the hammer price.
