Description
Dogon post, Mali Wood H. 184 cm Provenance : Paul and Jacqueline Canfère collection acquired from Jean-Michel Huguenin (according to oral information from descendants). Inscribed in a light, eroded wood, the post is animated by an imposing female figure schematized in high relief, with massive body elements, intensifying its presence. A small chest suggested by an inverted V, a thick bust, standing on small thick legs, a small oval face. The upper end of the post is decorated with a crescent moon.
