Somali/Danakil/Issa shield, Somalia Bleached skin, wood and vegetable fibers End of the 19th century D. 36 cm Provenance : Stefan Domoney Ancien Arts, London Acquired from the latter by the current owner, French private collection Beautiful circular shield made of white leather, slightly convex, with slightly turned up edges. The engraved decorations (chevrons and rectangles) are arranged in concentric circles. The inner face is also decorated with a finished decoration, with blue pigments inscribed all around the handle.
