CHINE

Blue and white porcelain vase decorated with dragons and clouds, the neck and the base in light relief with a brown patina and decorated with waves Bronze base marked in hollow and a label of the house Edmond Enot, Paris H : 47 cm Chinese mark under the base The house of Edmond Enot sold a lot of Japanese works. Let us point out that this house, which remains too little studied, is mentioned in the correspondence of the artist Gauguin: "the trade of Enot concerned in principle glassworks, earthenware and bronzes of art". The factory is referenced at 6 rue Chauveau-Lagarde then at 13 rue des Pyramides. The mounted vases of the house Enot are for the most part representative of the Japanese vogue at the end of the 19th century.
