First edition of this beautiful travel book on Constantinople and the Bosphorus. The atlas contains 25 superb plates engraved with aquatint, including 4 folding ones, representing views and monuments of Constantinople (now Istanbul). Artillery officer, Charles Pertusier (1779-1834) served in Dalmatia and was in the service of the French embassy in Constantinople between 1812 and 1814. Rare copy complete with the atlas which is often missing. Some foxing and spotting, sometimes strong. Margins of the title and of some leaves of the atlas reinforced, wetness and small marginal repair to some plates. The atlas lacks the false title. Minor rubbing to the spine of the text volumes. The atlas is in 19th century half cloth, with an original delivery cover pasted on the first board.
