The Mareschal of battle. Containing the maniment of arms, the evolutions. Several battalions, both against the infantry and the cavalry. Paris, De l'Imprimerie d'Estienne Migon, 1647. In-folio, vellum overlay, title in ink on the spine with the mention Duplum (Binding of the time). First edition of this treatise on military tactics, illustrated with 48 large copper-engraved figures in the text representing musketeers and other soldiers wielding weapons. The numerous orders of battle are schematized in the text by small squares printed in yellow, red and black. Copy in contemporary vellum, coming from a sale of duplicates from an old library. Wet stamp repeated on the title. Old handwritten mention on the CC1 leaf. The character on p. 101 is formerly colored. Some uniform foxing. Small tears on the cover of the first plate.
