Indian Art. A black stone stele portraying Lord Vishnu North-Eastern India, Bihar, Pala period, 11th century . Dark stone sculpture depicting the deity standing on a double lotus flower base, surrounded by a horseshoe-shaped prabha and flanked by personifications of his two main attributes. The figure wears royal robes and jewellery and is surmounted by two small figures in a devotional attitude. The sober decoration of the prabha finds a comparative specimen in the Chazen Museum, Wisconsin, USA, Acc.no. 1972.27. . Cm 28,00 x 51,00.
