Reunion of the first three (of five) books of the major work of the humanist and historiographer Jean Lemaire de Belges (1473-c. 1515), who attempts to prove, under cover of mythological and heroic fiction, that the Germans and Gauls are illustrious descendants of the inhabitants of the ancient city of Troy. Third edition of the second book, described by Bechtel under the n°L-151, decorated at the end with the large coats of arms of Louis XII and Anne de Bretagne. 3) Paris, Enguilbert and Jean de Marnef, and Pierre Viart, July 1517. Third edition of the third book, described by Bechtel under n°L-158, decorated with 2 large full-page woodcuts : the queen enthroned under the features of Juno, and coats of arms of Louis XII and Anne de Bretagne. Some light foxing, old mention of ownership scratched on the general title which is soiled, traces of redaction on the plate featuring Hercules and Galata.
