Beautiful edition that Voltaire had printed by subscription in Geneva, accompanied by comments. It is illustrated with a frontispiece engraved by Watelet and 34 figures engraved on copper after Gravelot. An agreeable copy in contemporary calf, with an INTERESTING PROVENANCE: IT WAS FROM THE LIBRARY OF ABRAHAM-GABRIEL RETIF (with his engraved ex-libris), COUSIN GERMAIN DE RETIF DE LA BRETONNE and one of the founders of the Grenoble library.
