"A student of Worms at the Conservatoire, Émile-Henri Duflos, known as Raphaël Duflos, graduated with a first prize in Comedy. He made his debut at the Odéon in 1882, where a year later, alongside Albert-Lambert, he was in the memorable creation of Severo Torelli by François Coppée. In 1884, he made his debut at the Comédie-Française in the role of Don Carlos (Hernani), then in Ruy Blas (successively Ruy Blas and Don Salluste). Tall, racy, aristocratic elegance, he embodies with rigor the heroes of drama and tragedy (Laërte in Hamlet, Don Sanche in Le Cid), he plays Zaïre by Voltaire and L'Aventurière by Emile Augier. Between 1887 and 1894, he played, on the boulevards, the modern seducers and the young leads of melodrama. He returned to the Comédie-Française in 1894 and became a member in 1896. He played the Répertoire (Alceste in The Misanthrope, Octave in The Caprices of Marianne, Louis XIII in Marion Delorme, Dom Juan, Henri III and his court), Émile Augier and Alexandre Dumas fils. He created a large number of new roles suitable for his presence (Le Nuage de Guiches, in 1901; Les Affaires sont les affaires de Mirbeau, in 1903; Notre jeunesse d'Alfred Capus, in 1906; Les Mouettes de Paul Adam, in 1906; L'Imprévu de Victor Margueritte, in 1910; L'Envolée de Gaston Devore in 1914; La Triomphatrice de Marie Leneru, in 1918...). Appointed professor at the Conservatoire in 1910, he counts among his students Maurice Escande and Annie Ducaux. He retired in 1924 and was named honorary member in 1925.""
