Description
The Children of Captain Grant by Jules Verne. Illustrations by Riou. Paris, Bibliothèque d'Éducation et de Récréation, J. Hetzel et Cie, sd ca (1879). Large triple in-8°. Two-tone beveled publisher's boards "à la bannière" blue on red oxblood background. To Lenègre bookbinder. Gilded edges. Blue endpapers. Catalog "AB" for 1879-1880. Printed by Gauthier-Villars. Covers rubbed. Some foxing. Otherwise, a nice copy with a second plate unknown to Jauzac. The stamp is absent (one can guess however a very slight attempt of typing) and only one wide and cold frame is present at the edge of the cuts. Moreover, the percaline of this second plate is coarse-grained...but not that of the first plate and the back. We guarantee however that it is not a montage! A real curiosity.
