MOUSTIERS Very rare crucifix base of pyramidal shape in polychrome earthenware decorated with a biblical scene representing "the three Marys" (Marie-Salomé, Marie-Jacoré, Marie-Madeleine) in front of the city of Jerusalem and its hills. Signed on the back of the base " I.E. BARON 1752 ". Middle 18th century Height : 19 cm Missing the cross, a crack crossing under the base Note : Jean-Etienne BARON, painter on earthenware in Moustiers who entered in apprenticeship at Olerys in 1739.
