Description

Manufacture Édouard Honoré in Paris Pair of baluster vases in porcelain with light blue and gilded bottom. The flared neck is surrounded by two handles in the form of swans' necks extending into a palmette. Two portraits of women, probably Gabrielle d'Estrées and Anne of Austria, in medallions decorated with foliage on one side and bouquets of flowers on the other side. They rest on pedestals ending in square bases. Marked on the back "Ed. Honoré À Paris". Restoration period. Height 31 cm (very slight chips) Made at the time of the Restoration in the middle of the Bourbons' return, our pair of vases seems to summon the illustrious female images of the dynasty. Indeed, they present the presumed portraits of the Marquise Gabrielle d'Estrées, favorite of Henri IV, and of Queen Anne of Austria, wife of Louis XIII, from the house of Habsburg.
