Vaso Alhambra in ceramica Probabilmente Francia, XIX secolo h. 65 X 32 cm

A vase with a characteristic "winged" shape, resting on a narrow circular base and characterized by a broad, bulging, truncated belly, a splayed cylindrical neck, and two solid handles resembling bird's wings. The object is supported by a bronze tripod that ensures its stability. The exterior is painted in cobalt blue undercover and brown luster overcover and includes arabesques, vine-shoots and the typical subject with two faced quadrupeds on a blue background that are worth the name "Gazelle Vase" in which the tree of life, stylized under the faced animals, evokes paradise and all the symbolism related to it. Central band containing inscription or pseudo-inscription in the center. The peculiarity of nasride production of this type of vase, probably designed to hold water, inspired their 19th-century reproduction in the wake of an eclectic Orientalist mood.
