Description

MONTPELLIER Covered earthenware vase, with piriform body with double bulge on pedestal. Blue and manganese decoration of two polylobed medallions; on one side representing a couple sitting under a tree and on the other side, a landscape with a building. The polylobes stand out on a background of imbrications of scales, and are surrounded by friezes composed of flowers in rosette, scrolls of ironwork motifs, lambrequins and oves. Early 18th century H. 35 cm Restorations on the base, on the neck and on the lid. Chips on the edge of the lid. Bibliography : - Reproduced in Arnaud d'Agnel. Earthenware and porcelain of Marseille.
