An elegant edition of this work enriched by numerous excellent plates, rarely present in other copies registered at auction (RBH), which portray nobles and royals of the time printed by Odieuvre, and by two folding plates, representing the massacre of the night of San Bartholomew and the assassination of Henry IV. De Béthune was finance minister of King Henry IV of France, and his work is one of the most important French historical sources of the time. 3 volumes, 4to (290 x 210mm). Engraved frontispiece in first volume, half titles, titles in red and black with engraved vignettes, author's portrait and 73 engraved plates, 2 of them folding, engraved headpieces and initials (little marginal tear at T4 of the first volume, occasional light spotting). Contemporary mottled calf with triple gilt fillet on covers, gilt decorations and title on labels on spine, gilt dentelle and edges, marbled endpapers (light wear). Elegante edizione arricchita da numerosi tavole di ottima impressione, raramente presenti in altre copie registrate in asta (RBH), che ritraggono nobili e reali dell'epoca stampati da Odieuvre, e da due tavole ripiegate, rappresentanti il massacro della notte di San Bartolomeo e l'assassinio di Enrico IV. De Béthune fu ministro delle finanze di re Enrico IV di Francia e la sua opera rappresenta una delle più importanti fonti storiche francesi dell'epoca. 3 volumi, 4to (290 x 210mm). Antiporta incisa in rame al primo volume, occhielli, frontespizi stampati in inchiostro rosso e nero con vignetta calcografica, ritratto dell'autore e 73 tavole calcografiche, di cui due ripiegate, testatine e iniziali incise (piccolo strappetto marginale a T4 del primo volume, occasionali lievi fioriture). Bazzana coeva con triplo filetto in oro ai piatti, decori e titolo in oro su tasselli colorati al dorso, dentelle decorate in oro, tagli dorati, sguardie marmorizzate (lievi difetti).
