RAMIRO FERNÁNDEZ SAUS (Sabadell, Barcelona 1961). La huida a Egipto" ("Flight into Egypt"), 1995. Oil on panel. Signed and dated on the back. Size: 36 x 30 cm; 54 x 48 cm (frame). Ramiro Fernández Saus studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, and after graduating, in 1989, thanks to a grant from the Generalitat de Catalunya, he travelled to London, where he studied at Delfina Studios. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in both national and international galleries, including, for example, the Galería Estampa, Madrid, in 1996 and 2000, the Galería Helga de Alvear, Madrid, in 1997, the Galería Marisa Marimón, Orense, 1996, Long & Ryle Gallery, London, 1999 and 2001, Galería Siboney, Santander, 2001. He has also participated in exhibitions in museums such as the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid in 1994 and the Museo de Arte de Sabadell in 2000. His style, stark and expressive, is based on the contributions of the historical avant-garde, especially German expressionism, with which he shares a rough, primitive, markedly linear drawing and direct confrontation with the spectator.
