Coffret de Meknès
Morocco, late 19th century - early 20th century
Of square shape, the lid with cut sides opening on a hinge, on a wooden core covered with metal damasked with gold and silver nets. The front is decorated with a "mihrab" framed by two six-pointed stars, the sides have three "mihrabs" animated with tree of life, the lid and the back are decorated with a flower with eight petals and foliage. The interior is painted in polychrome.
