These illuminated pages are divided into 6 full-page illustrations and 128 pages of text around which are harmonized very rich illuminations. The first two manuscript leaves are the artist's ex-dono to his daughter. The last two pages are a reminder of important family dates, birth, marriage, mourning The decoration of this volume is very impressive by its richness, its diversity and the finesse of the execution. First of all, there are illuminations of a classical style, geometrical motifs, foliated branches, flowers, fruits, birds, animals, shells, etc. To this classical decoration are added rarer motifs, banners, religious motifs, precious stones, pearls, medals, bunches of grapes, architectural motifs, peacock feathers, ribbons, etc. Finally, 87 figurative paintings of varying size complete these illuminations, some occupying half the page, others only one medallion. The scenes of these figurative paintings are of course most often related to religious life: mass, sacraments, communions, scenes from the Bible with Mary, Christ, the apostles, the nativity, the crucifixion, representations of saints, but also scenes related to the life of Émilie Edmée Boudin de Vesvres and her family. Thus, on the first page and on page XLIII is represented the communion of Émilie Edmée, on page LIII this one praying with her mother, on page LXXVIII this one playing with the hoop in a garden, on page CII her mother, artist who carried out this volume, on page CVIII the ancestors of the family. Finally, landscapes and places are represented which one can obviously think are all places where Émilie Edmée lived or that she knew (p. VIII, XXI, LIII and LXXVIII). The remarkable quality of the drawings and illuminations, their variety and the richness of the ornamentation cannot be stressed enough. The golds in particular are of a very high quality and of an astonishing thickness. This volume bears witness to the importance of the Christian religion within certain families in the second half of the 19th century.
