INFORMATION : The small castle, now disappeared, represented on this watercolor is the Hermitage of Montmorency. It was made famous by JJ Rousseau who stayed there for several years and wrote
notably "La Nouvelle Héloïse". The castle was remodeled in the middle of the XIXth century (as it appears on this painting by Maclet) and later became a rest home.
