The obverse shows the monogram of King George V of Hanover (GR V) in gold on a red enamel background circled with the date of foundation of the order "DEN XV DECEMBER MDCCCLXV" in gold on a blue enamel background. Godronnée hanger and ring of suspension. The silver plate in the form of a stylized star with eight branches worked in diamond points and pierced, the center applied with the monogram of King Ernst August of Hanover (EA) encircled by a band of blue enamel depicting the motto of the order "SUSCIPERE ET FINIRE" in gold.
